Switch to Safer Without Overwhelm: For the Household
One of my favorite things to do is to help breakdown categories you can tackle when switching to safer. Maybe it’s the same thing in me that loves a good checklist or bullet point. This grouping is a great place to start because it affects everyone in the home. By switching and removing these categories you are lowering everyones toxic load and bettering their health!
Pick an area and start:
Cleaning Products: This is a big one because it is touching every surface and involves almost everyone in the home. Obviously this is a big category so start with what you use most often: multipurpose, dish soap, detergents, dryer sheets. My favorite way to knock a lot of it out in an affordable way. Get a Branch Basics starter kit! You won't regret it. Use code DETOXMETUESDAY for 15% off. View my other DMT Approved cleaning brands HERE.
Food storage: Not only will your food last longer, but you will remove a bunch of plastic from your household which commonly leach endocrine disrupters. Stasher Bags (20% off now), glass or stainless steel are my favorite options.
Cookware: I have a picture of cast iron because this is the easiest first switch to make here. Move the majority of your cooking to a cast iron skillet, then, when you can, switch to stainless steel or ceramic non-stick like Greenpan.
Ditch the Air Fresheners: The best part about this one is that it’s free! Start with the plug-ins and sprays. Next move to scented paraffin candles. Try diffusing essential oils or opening your windows. This can make a huge difference in your indoor air quality. If you absolutely need to have one use a safer option like Grow or Primally Pure (Use code DETOXMETUESDAY for savings!)
Did you know that according to a study by the EPA we spend 87% of our time indoors? Let’s get that air clean!
